Delays after 4WD flips on major Gold Coast roundabout

EMERGENCY services are on the scene of a crash at Hope Island on the Gold Coast where a 4WD has flipped onto its roof.

The white Nissan Pajero overturned in the westbound lanes of Oxenford-Southport Road, otherwise known as Hope Island Road, near Helensvale Road just after 3pm.

It is understood two vehicles were involved in an initial collision before the 4WD flipped.

The vehicle came to rest on its roof near a roundabout connecting four major roads, including Helensvale Road, Oxenford-Southport Road, Sickle Avenue and Broadwater Avenue.

MyGC understands all occupants managed to free themselves from the wreck before emergency services arrived.

An ambulance spokesperson told myGC paramedics were on scene assessing two patients.

The incident has thrown local traffic into disarray, with the upturned vehicle blocking at least one lane.

Motorists have been urged to be patient when travelling through the area, with delays being experienced on all roads leading up to the roundabout.
