Traffic gridlock across Gold Coast after several crashes

LATEST @ 5.00 PM | Major delays are being experienced across the city this afternoon due to multiple crashes.

Two cars collided on Nerang Broadbeach Road, at the intersection of Alabaster Drive in Carrara around 4.30pm.

Three people were assessed at the scene by paramedics, however, only one motorist required transport to Pindara Private Hospital with minor injuries.

Meantime, a motorist is in a serious condition following a crash southbound on the M1 at Palm Beach.

A Queensland Ambulance spokesperson said the driver is believed to have suffered a medical episode, causing them to plough into a barrier just after Exit 92 around 4.00pm.

myGC has also received reports of a tree on fire on the side of McLaren Road in Nerang.

It comes following an earlier multi-vehicle crash northbound on the Pacific Motorway at Upper Coomera.

EARLIER @ 3.30 PM | Motorists travelling on the Pacific Motorway this afternoon are being warned to brace for delays due to a multi-vehicle crash.

The accident happened northbound on the M1 in the lanes just before the Coomera River Bridge around 3.30pm.

According to the Department of Transport and Main Roads, at least one lane has been blocked.

Traffic is currently banked up in both directions in the area, with drivers urged to allow for extra travel time.
