Desperate search underway for teen who went missing while swimming in NSW

A frantic search is underway for a missing teenage boy after a New Year’s Eve swim turned to tragedy in NSW.

The 15-year-old went swimming with a mate around 6.30pm on Friday in the Shoalhaven River at Burrier when he got into trouble.

The pair tried to get back to shore before the 15-year-old disappeared under the water.

Emergency services were called in and members of the public also began searching for the boy with their own boats.

Police Divers arrived at the scene around 10.50pm but their search had to be suspended around 1.30am on Saturday.

The search has since resumed but there has been no sign of the teen.
