The new campaign, titled ‘Play Rescue’, is getting launched today just in time for the Queensland border reopening next week.
Destination Gold Coast CEO Patricia O’Callaghan says it’s time for Aussie families to spend quality time together on the Gold Coast.
“While we’ve spent a lot of time at home, we are also yearning to make memories and have a little fun in the sun and that is why Destination Gold Coast is encouraging southern visitors to head up to the Gold Coast this summer,” said Ms O’Callaghan.
“The Gold Coast has been through a significant transformation that will tempt holidaymakers from across Australia, from new dining and a beach bar to invigorated experiences and attractions, walking trails and the country’s first-ever tandem helicopter skydive, we’re coming back online with more to offer than ever before.
“With so many things to see and do, there’s no better place in Australia to ‘play’ than the Gold Coast right now.
“We hope the #PlayRescue competition gives a deserving family some much needed time to reconnect and have fun following more than 18 months of disruption. It’s time to get back to the people and places we love,” Ms O’Callaghan said.
All you have to do to enter is head to the Destination Gold Coast website and tell the tourism geniuses in 25 words or less why you need a Play Rescue.
Each entry will be individually judged based on literary and creative merit of the answer provided to the promotional question.
The comp is open to Australian residents 18 years and over.
Entries are being taken from today through to the 30th of December, and the winner will then be announced by the 14th of January.
They’ll receive a five-night holiday on the Gold Coast for 4 people valued at over $7,000AUD.
The prize includes 1x$4,000AUD accommodation voucher for the Sheraton Grand Mirage Resort, 1 x $1,000AUD Webjet voucher for your flights to the Gold Coast, 1 x $400 voucher for Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary, a Walkabout Tour at Jellurgal Aboriginal Culture Centre for 4 adults, single day entry for 4 adults to Dreamworld, scenic transfer flights from Gold Coast Airport to Marina Mirage with Gold Coast Helitours and a $250 dining credit at Southport Yacht Club.
Gold Coast Mayor Tom Tate has welcomed the initiative.
“Every state and major city is fighting for market share so it’s important we showcase the Coast.
“We hold the ace in the pack as Australia’s favourite holiday destination and I’m confident the Play Rescue message will remind Aussies why they simply have to visit us as they escape their Covid lockdown blues,” Mayor Tate said.
