Detour Street Art Festival takes over Robina Town Centre

For locals looking to escape the crowds this April, an epic two-week arts, culture and entertainment spectacle  has taken over Robina Town Centre.

Kicking off yesterday and running until Sunday 15th April, the Detour Street Art Festival is the place to head to check out eye-catching street-art installations, enjoy immersive children’s craft workshops and watch live performances by top-notch local musicians.

Over the course of the festival, some of the Coast’s most talented street artists will be let loose to create 12 vivid street-art masterpieces in surprising locations throughout shopping centre.

Every day shopping spaces will be transformed into extraordinary installations by the likes of Luke Day, Kiel Tillman, Gimiks Born, and and international street art superstar, Sofles, to name a few.

Shoppers can watch on as these artistic visionaries bring their creations to life through colour, design, shape and illustration, all the while shining a light on the city’s unique local culture.

The youngest of art enthusiasts can also put their hands and imaginations to work at the Mini Art Lab in partnership with Ironlak – a school holiday program run in collaboration with local artist, Lauren Carney of Dizzy Little Dotty.

Parents can kick back with a coffee in hand as their youngsters get involved in street-art style workshops outside Hype DC between 10am and 3pm daily, drawing inspiration from the line-up of resident street artists weaving their magic throughout the malls.

Meanwhile, The Promenade will be the place to head to relax and chill, with an extensive line-up of local musicians set to perform in a relaxed, open-air venue – including Lily Budiasa, Cadence, Joshua Boyd and Bordeaux.

With a licensed pop-up bar serving bites and brews from Malt House and Coopers Brewery, The Live Lawn will be open from 10am daily.
