Disturbance call leads police to massive drug haul in Mermaid Beach

AN unrelated house call has seen police on the Gold Coast stumble across a massive drug haul.

Detectives from the Gold Coast Child Protection and Investigation Unit were responding to a call out to a Mermaid Beach unit on Monday night.

When they arrived at around 9.15pm, they searched the Gold Coast Highway apartment and discovered drugs, cash, ammunition and more than 1,000 ecstasy tablets.

A 21-year-old Broadbeach Waters man was due to appear in Southport Magistrates Court on Tuesday charged with possessing dangerous drugs and possessing a pipe.

A 23-year-old Hollywell man and a 22-year-old Bundall man are scheduled to appear in Southport Magistrates Court on July 28 also charged with possessing dangerous drugs and possessing a pipe.
