Dominic Perrottet becomes 46th Premier of NSW

Dominic Perrottet has been elected as the new New South Wales Premier, following Gladys Berejiklian’s bombshell exit last week.

“The Parliamentary Liberal Party have met this morning to fill a vacancy for leader,” Government Whip Adam Crouch told reporters following the vote on Tuesday morning.

“A ballot has been held and I can declare that the honourable Dominic Perrottet has been elected to the leadership position of the New South Wales Liberal Parliamentary Party.

“I can also confirm that the deputy position has been awarded to the honourable Stuart Ayres.”

It’s believed Mr Perrottet beat Planning Minister Rob Stokes in a vote, 39 to 5.

Berejiklian quit on Friday after the state’s corruption watchdog, the Independent Commission Against Corruption, announced she was under investigation for potential breaches of public trust during her secret five-year relationship with former MP Daryl Maguire.
