Donald Trump and Melania test positive to COVID-19

UPDATE @ 3.00 PM: US President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump have tested positive for coronavirus.

Trump confirmed the news in a statement posted to Twitter a short time ago.

“Tonight, @FLOTUS and I tested positive for COVID-19. We will begin our quarantine and recovery process immediately. We will get through this TOGETHER!” he wrote.


It comes after the President’s close advisor, Hope Hicks, was diagnosed with the virus earlier today.

Both Trump and Melania remain in quarantine at the White House, where the President’s doctor said he will continue his duties.

“The President and First Lady are both well at this time, and they plan to remain at home within the White House during their convalescence,” Sean Conley, the physician to the President said.

“The White House medical team and I will maintain a vigilant watch, and I appreciate the support provided by some of our our country’s greatest medical professionals and institutions.

“Rest assured I expect the President to continue carrying out his duties without disruption while recovering, and I will keep you updated on any future developments.”

EARLIER @ 2.00PM: There are fears the US President Donald Trump may have contracted coronavirus, after a close advisor returned a positive test today.

Trump’s confirmed that he and First Lady Melania Trump are now in quarantine, after getting tested for coronavirus.

Close advisor Hope Hicks had travelled closely with the President prior to her diagnosis.

She was on board Air Force Once for Trump’s visit to Minnesota, as well as his helicopter, Marine One, for a trip to Joint Base Andrews yesterday.

Donald Trump has now confirmed that he, and first lady Melania Trump have had to get tested.

“The First Lady and I are waiting for our test results. In the meantime, we will begin our quarantine process,” he tweeted earlier.

He also confirmed to Fox News that they both spend a lot of time with Hope.
