Don’t snap and drive

POLICE have raised concerns over a new trend among Gold Coast motorists, with more and more being caught taking selfies behind the wheel.

Some are even updating their social media with the photos at the same time, with no worry of the risk it poses for themselves and other motorists.

It has brought a surge in the number of people caught using their mobile phones while driving, with people assuming they can only be fined if they are texting while driving.

Gold Coast police say other excuses often used by motorists when they’re caught with their phones include checking the time, bidding in E-bay auctions and updating their social media status.
