Close to 40 innocent motorists on the Gold Coast have had their cars damaged by a man armed with a metal pole.
The shocking 15-minute vandalism spree began in the car park opposite the Burleigh Heads Hotel in the early hours of Tuesday morning, when the man allegedly damaged a vehicle which was parked next to his own car.
Police say the man then allegedly walked down First Avenue, using a metal pole to smash the front and rear windscreens of vehicles on the street.

“The man has then gone north on the Gold Coast Highway before walking down Second Avenue in an easterly direction, continuing to damage cars,” Qld Police said.
“He then walked north on The Esplanade, allegedly damaging further vehicles before he was confronted by police.”
In total, 36 vehicles were allegedly damaged with their windscreens smashed in, doors dented and side mirrors vandalised.
A 43-year-old man, who police say is from Miami, was issued a Notice to Appear on one count of wilful damage.
He is due to appear in the Southport Magistrates Court on August 31.
