Legal action over the Dreamworld Thunder River Rapids ride is continuing, with the theme park’s owners now suing an engineer who had allegedly deemed the ride safe.
Ardent Leisure has blamed an engineer for the incident, which resulted in the tragic death of four people back in 2016.
The theme park owners alleged that the engineer certified the ride as safe just a day before it malfunctioned.

They’re now seeking damages for negligence and breach of contract.
However, the engineer and the company are defending the claims, alleging that Ardent consistently failed to meet its obligations under the Workplace Health and Safety Act, and was solely responsible for the disaster.
The matter will appear in the Supreme Court.
