Driver ambushed, stabbed in frenzied attack while stopped at intersection

A DRIVER has been stabbed multiple times after being ambushed by a group of men at an intersection in Sydney.

Police said the male driver was travelling along the Hume Highway at Yagoona in the city’s southwest around 2.30am on Thursday when he pulled up behind a Toyota Corolla at the intersection of William Street.

As the man’s vehicle came to a stop, a number of men allegedly stepped out of the Corolla and walked towards him.

It’s alleged the group tried to pull the man out of his vehicle and, during a scuffle, stabbed him once in each leg.

The offenders then got back into their Toyota Corolla and sped away from the scene.

Their victim was treated by paramedics at the scene before being taken to Liverpool Hospital.

Detectives have launched a full-scale investigation into the attack.

Anyone who may have witnessed the incident, or who may have information that could assist, should contact police at Bankstown, or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
