Driver charged after mother killed in shocking crash

A TRUCK driver have been charged with dangerous driving causing death following a crash that killed a 43-year-old mother in Coffs Harbour on Tuesday.

Police said a truck slammed into two cars on Solitary Island Way, near Holloways Road, around 7.50am.

The impact killed a 43-year-old woman from one of the cars. Police said she died at the scene.


The other drivers and passengers escaped serious injury and were treated by paramedics at the scene before being taken to Coffs Harbour Hospital.

Officers from the Crash Investigation Unit as well as heavy vehicle inspectors were sent to investigate the circumstances surrounding the collision.

Following inquiries, the 69-year-old man who was driving the truck was arrested on Tuesday afternoon and charged with dangerous and negligent driving occasioning death.

The Woolgoolga man’s licence was also suspended before he was released on conditional bail.

He is due to appear in Coffs Harbour Local Court on Monday, June 25.
