Driver charged over an alleged pursuit in Villawood

A driver has been charged over an alleged pursuit with police in Villawood yesterday.

Police attempted to stop a vehicle in Belar Avenue, Villawood around 5.45pm.

It’s alleged the driver refused to stop.

Police gave chase through the streets of Villawood before the vehicle returned to Belar Avenue where it crashed into a telegraph pole.

Three passengers surrendered to police.

The driver allegedly started running from the scene.

Officers chased him and arrested him shortly after.

The three male passengers, two aged 18 and one aged 22, were questioned and released at the scene.

The 22-year-old driver has now been charged at Bankstown Police Station with engage in police pursuit (Skye’s Law), drive while licence cancelled, and breach of bail.

He has been refused bail and will appear in Bankstown Local Court today.
