Driver charged with killing teen in Wollongong crash

A YOUNG man on his P-plates has been charged with dangerous driving occasioning death following a horror crash in Wollongong.

The accident occurred along Windang Road at Windang shortly after midday on Wednesday.

Police said the 20-year-old P-plater was travelling south when he lost control of his white Toyota and collided with a silver Holden Commodore heading in the same direction.

The impact forced the Holden off the road where it slammed into the back of a parked truck. The 18-year-old driver was killed instantly.

The 20-year-old driver of the Toyota was conveyed to Shellharbour Hospital for mandatory blood and urine testing.

Following inquiries, the man has been charged with dangerous driving occasioning death and had his P2 licence suspended.

He appeared in Wollongong Local Court yesterday where he was granted condition bail to reappear on 9 November.
