A driver has been charged over a horror crash which claimed the life of two women near Byron Bay earlier this year.
About 4.20pm on Sunday 13 August, police were called to the Pacific Highway at Cudgera Creek following reports a silver Toyota Camry had left the roadway, collided with a cement bridge and landed in a culvert.
Despite desperate attempts by paramedics, two women, aged 64 and 46, died at the scene.

A 47-year-old man and a 14-year-old boy suffered minor injuries and were airlifted to Gold Coast University Hospital.
Following ongoing investigations into the crash, police yesterday charged the 47-year-old driver with dangerous driving occasioning death (x2) and negligent driving occasioning death.
He was refused bail and put before Tweed Heads Local Court where he was granted bail to next appear in court on 17 January 2018.
