Driver critical, passenger seriously injured after ute hits tree

A YOUNG man is fighting for his life in hospital and his mate is in a serious condition following a horror crash in Brisbane overnight.

The man’s Subaru Brumby ute smashed into a tree on Wright Street in Carindale around 8.20pm.

The 27-year-old man behind the wheel of the ute and his 28-year-old male passenger were extremely lucky to escape with their lives.

The driver suffered life-threatening injuries and was transported to Princess Alexandra Hospital where he remains today, in a critical condition.

His passenger was taken to the same hospital in a serious condition, police said.

The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash.
