Driver dies in hospital after crawling out of fiery crash wreck

ONE driver has been killed and another seriously injured in a horror crash in Central Queensland.

It happened in the small town of Tieri around 7pm on Tuesday.

Police said a four-wheel-drive collided with a station wagon, forcing it into a ditch on Crinum Road.

Both drivers were seriously injured in the collision.

Police said the 41-year-old man behind the wheel of the 4WD managed to crawl out of the wreck, which burst into flames on impact.

He and the second driver, also 41, were airlifted to Emerald Hospital with serious injuries.

Sadly, police today confirmed the driver of the 4WD succumbed to his injuries and passed away in hospital.

Investigations by the Forensic Crash Unit are continuing.
