Driver injured in horror Gold Coast crash

A MAN has been left with serious injuries after another horror, high speed crash on the Gold Coast.

Witnesses said a car, believed to be a Mitsubishi Triton, was speeding down Mortenson Road in Nerang around 6pm on Monday when it clipped the curb at a roundabout and lost control.

The vehicle flipped several times through the air before coming to a rest on its roof at the intersection of Cayuga Street – within metres of a group of kids at a nearby BMX park.

The 42-year-old male driver and sole occupant was thrown from the vehicle as a result of the impact.

He was rushed to the Gold Coast University Hospital in a serious condition with head, chest and suspected internal injuries.

The section of road was closed to all traffic as preliminary investigations were carried out and the scene was cleared.

Investigations into the cause of the accident are continuing.
