Driver killed after car leaves road and ploughs into trees

A MAN has been killed in a crash near Port Douglas, in far north Queensland.

The fatal accident happened at Miallo just after 11am on Thursday.

Police said the man’s car veered off Mossman Daintree Road and ploughed into a group of trees.

The 39-year-old man from Cow Bay sustained life-threatening injuries and died at the scene.

The Forensic Crash Unit is now investigating the circumstances surrounding the accident.
