Driver killed, passenger injured after car hits power pole

ONE person is dead and another has been taken to hospital following a single vehicle crash on Sydney’s Lower North Shore.

It happened at the intersection of Sylvia Street and Fullers Road at Chatswood around 2.50am on Saturday.

Police said a Toyota Corolla with two people inside smashed into a power pole at the intersection.

The vehicle had been travelling west on Fullers Road before the accident, police said.

Sadly, the male driver died at the scene.

His female passenger was taken to Sydney’s Royal North Shore Hospital for assessment.

Their ages were not known at the time of writing.

Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash and are urging anyone with information to come forward.
