Driver killed, passenger injured in horror Qld crash

A young man has been killed, while another has been airlifted to hospital following a horror crash at Cloncurry overnight.

The accident happened on Cloncurry Duchess Road just after 8.30pm.

Police say initial investigations suggest a Toyota Hilux ute was travelling in a northerly direction, when the driver lost control, resulting in the vehicle fish tailing and flipping.

The driver, a 20-year-old Burpengary man died at the scene.

The passenger, a 28-year-old Mount Isa man was transported by helicopter to the Mount Isa Base Hospital, with minor injuries.

Investigators from the Forensic Crash Unit are appealing for any witnesses or anyone who may have dash cam vision to come forward.
