Driver killed in shocking three-car crash on Pacific Highway

A MAN in his 20s has died following a shocking three-car crash on the Pacific Highway in NSW.

The accident happened on a two-lane two-way bridge at Port Macquarie around 4.30am on Saturday.

Police said the 23-year-old man was driving south over the Dennis Bridge in a Toyota Hilux ute when, for reasons unknown, the vehicle veered into oncoming traffic.

It’s understood the Hilux crossed onto the wrong side of the bridge and smashed into two oncoming cars.

The 23-year-old man suffered life-threatening injuries in the collision and sadly, could not be saved.

He was rushed to Macquarie District Hospital where he was pronounced dead shortly after arriving.

The drivers from the other two vehicles escaped the collision uninjured.

They were conveyed to Port Macquarie District Hospital for mandatory blood and urine testing.

Officers from Mid North Coast Local Area Command established a crime scene and are investigating the circumstances surrounding the crash.
