Driver under police guard in hospital after NSW crash

A man who allegedly flipped his car into its side after losing control and crashing into three vehicles south of Sydney overnight is under police guard in hospital.

The crash is believed to have occurred just before midnight along the Kingsway at Woolooware.

It’s understood a Subaru WRX crashed into a car and two parked vehicles before rolling onto its side.

Police said the driver was trapped for a short time.

“Several bystanders were able to release the man who then allegedly ran from the scene,” police said in a statement.

Police and the Dog Unit searched for the man and arrested him a short time later in Denman Avenue.

The 25-year-old man was taken to Sutherland Hospital by ambulance with lacerations.

He is in a stable condition.

Inquiries into the incident are continuing and charges are expected to be laid.
