Driver surrenders after motorcyclist loses limbs in horror hit and run

A driver has handed himself into police two years after a hit and run which left a motorcyclist with horrific injuries.

The crash occurred on Wild Duck Drive at Cams Wharf in Lake Macquarie on Tuesday 3 June 2014.

Emergency services arrived at the scene to find a motorcyclist had lost an arm and a leg after being knocked off his bike in the accident.


The driver fled the scene and remained on the run from police for more than two years.

Following ongoing investigations, the 29-year-old man surrendered to officers at Boolaroo Police Station yesterday after a warrant had been issued for his arrest.

The man has since been charged with eight offences including dangerous driving occasioning grievous bodily harm, exceed speed by more than 45km/h, and fail to stop after accident.

He is due to face Belmont Local Court on 19 January 2017.
