Driver trapped for 2 hours after car crashes into power pole in Sydney

A man is in a serious condition after his car crashed into a power pole in Wiley Park this morning.

Police say the man was travelling eastbound along Punchbowl Road and attempted to turn left onto King Georges Road when it appears he lost control of the car and struck the pole around 6.15am.

Emergency crews rushed to the scene after receiving reports the driver was trapped and live wires were on the road.


Officers said the 26-year-old man was trapped in the Mitsubishi sedan for about two hours, before being released and rushed to St George Hospital with leg and pelvis injuries.

Investigations are ongoing.
