Driver trapped after car flipped along busy Gold Coast road

A man is recovering in hospital this morning after he was trapped in his overturned vehicle in a crash overnight.

The Honda Accord was travelling west along Ashmore Road when he lost control on a bend near Carrara Road around 8.40 pm.

It then mounted the median strip and collided with a tree, before flipping into the middle of the eastbound lanes.

Emergency services rushed to the scene, where they found the 27-year-old driver trapped in the upturned vehicle.

Queensland Fire and Emergency Services spent some time trying to extricate him, before he was assessed by paramedics at the scene.

He was taken to the Gold Coast Hospital for treatment of head and chest injuries.

He’s understood to be in a stable condition.

Luckily, no other injuries were reported as a result of the crash.

Police are now investigating the circumstances around it.
