Driverless car smashes through suburban yard in freak accident

THERE’S been a lucky escape on the Gold Coast this afternoon after a runaway car crashed through a suburban yard. 

The freak accident happened on Mairposa Court, Nerang around 12.30pm.

A police spokesperson said no one was inside the black sedan at the time it ploughed through the fence.

The driverless vehicle took out a large section of the back fence, stopping just short of smashing through the brick house.

Luckily, no one was injured.

Paramedics responded, although no one was transported to hospital.
