Drugs and weapons seized in joint north Queensland operation

A joint operation by Queensland Police and the Australian Border Force in north Queensland has resulted in 14 people charged with 38 offences including drug, weapons and stolen property offences.

During the two day operation officers seized quantities of methylamphetamine, cannabis and cannabis plants with an approximate street value of $37,000.

Also seized were 13 Tasers, 1 unregistered firearm, an extendable baton, capsicum spray, $3,900 in cash and a small quantity of ammunition and some banned fireworks.

During searches conducted in Collinsville local police found an air compressor which had earlier been stolen from the area.

A 33 year old Collinsville man has been charged in relation to that equipment.

Those charged so far are expected to appear in the Magistrates Court at Bowen in early 2016.

Police described the seizures as significant for the small towns of Bowen & Collinsville.

Detectives are still completing their investigations and further offenders are expected to be charged with more drug related offences.
