Drunk teens hurl glass bottles at police at rowdy beach party

ROWDY teenagers have hurled glass bottles at police trying to break up an out-of-control beach party south of the border overnight.

Police were called to the Murphys Road gathering at Kingscliff around 10pm on Tuesday following numerous noise complaints.

Officers arrived to find a DJ entertaining a crowd of 200-300 youths, many who were under the influence of alcohol.

One officer was struck on the elbow with a glass bottle as they attempted to disperse the crowd.

Multiple police units responded and remained in the area for more than two hours.

NSW Police said those responsible for organising such illegal parties on public or council land without approval faced a hefty $3,300 fine.

Police investigations into the incident are continuing.
