Duke of Edinburgh officially retires from royal duties
Prince Philip has formally retired from royal duties, after conducting his final solo public engagement today.
The Duke of Edinburgh attended a parade of the Royal Marines at Buckingham Palace, with hundreds of wellwishers turning out for the occasion.
While the 96-year-old will no longer make royal appearances on his own, he may accompany the Queen from time to time.
In his 64-year royal career, Prince Philip has undertaken 22,219 solo engagements.
