E-scooter rider fighting for life after colliding with car in Burleigh
A MAN is fighting for his life following a horror e-scooter crash in Burleigh overnight.
Police say the man was riding the scooter eastbound along Reedy Creek Road around 7.30pm, when he crossed into the path of a Toyota Corolla travelling south on Bermuda Street.
The scooter rider, a 34-year-old man from Currumbin, suffered critical injuries.
A “brave” bystander immediately ran to his aid, before emergency crews arrived and took over.
The man, who police said was not wearing a helmet, was treated at the scene by paramedics before being rushed to the Gold Coast University Hospital, where he remains in a critical condition.
The driver of the car, a 23-year-old Robina woman, managed to escape physical injury.
The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating.
