Eagle Farm Racecourse loses power on biggest day of year
Talk about bad timing… Melbourne Cup punters in Queensland have been left in the dark after a blackout at Brisbane’s Eagle Farm Racecourse.
The cities biggest racing venue lost power shortly after 1.00pm Tuesday, leaving guests unable to bet or watch the races on the big screens.
Eftpos machines are also reportedly down, with people unable to purchase drinks with their cards.
According to posts on social media, people are quickly trying to scramble to view the main race elsewhere.
7NEWS reports the blackout is due to a transformer blowout.
