Early morning blaze sparks at Gold Coast grocery store

Investigations are underway after a fire broke out in a grocery store on the Gold Coast early this morning.

Emergency services were called to a shop along Old Coach Road in Reedy Creek around 5.00 am following reports that smoke was seen coming from the roof.

Luckily, internal sprinklers had activated and extinguished the small blaze before it got out of control.

Staff had arrived at the business to begin work, but they were all able to evacuate and no one was injured.

Police are now investigating exactly what may have started the blaze, but there’s no indication of what it might have been just yet.

More to come.
