NORTHCLIFFE SLSC is again applauding its stars, after members Shannon Eckstein and Courtney Hancock came home with the Ironman and Ironwoman trophies respectively.
Eckstein picked up a record eighth Nutri-Grain IronMan title at Coolum Beach yesterday after crossing the line first ahead of fellow Gold Coaster Ky Hurst and Sydney’s Kendrick Louis.
A stunning season meant Eckstein only needed to complete the race to claim one point and take out the Series.

“I was the most relaxed I’ve ever been, it was about enjoying the last race of the season,” the 31-year-old said.
“When it came down to the final I felt a real motivation to win the final race, even with the Series win secure,” he added.
Eckstein crossed the line with fists in the air and was met by wife Belinda and daughter Ellie for a celebratory hug.
While Hancock narrowly avoided elimination to get her hands on the Kellogg’s Ironwoman series crown, ahead of North Burleigh’s Liz Pluimers and fellow Northcliffe product Kristyl Smith.
In the first of two eliminator races, Hancock was in the relegation zone after slipping to 13th, but scraped in to 10th spot to qualify for the final.
