EIGHT people have now died in the wake of last week’s “thunderstorm asthma” outbreak in Melbourne.
The unprecedented freak weather event triggered more than 1900 calls to Ambulance Victoria last Monday and Tuesday and hospitals across the city treated more than 8,500 people.
The Health Department on Tuesday said one person remains in a critical condition in the Intensive Care Unit (ICU) of a Melbourne hospital.

A further seven people are still being treated in hospitals across the city for a variety of respiratory and other related conditions.
