Elderly man accused of ‘sexually touching’ girls at public pool

A 77-year-old man has been charged after he allegedly sexually touched four young girls underwater at a public swimming pool.

The man was arrested on Tuesday after the girls alerted NSW police to the incidents, which allegedly occurred at at a pool in Kiama in October.

Police will allege in court that on Saturday October 3, two girls aged 11 and 9 were swimming, when the man swam close to them and touched them on the leg area.

The girls left the pool and reported the incident to staff and police.

Just days later on October 8, police allege the man approached another two girls, aged 11 and 10, and allegedly touched them underwater on their back and legs while swimming at the same pool.

The incident was also reported to staff and police.

Following investigations, the 77-year-old was arrested yesterday and charged with six counts of sexual touch person without consent.

He was granted conditional bail to appear at Kiama Local Court on Tuesday 1 February 2021.
