Elderly man carjacked by hooded crooks near Geelong

A 76-YEAR-OLD man says he was left shaken after being yanked out of his car in a violent carjacking south-west of Melbourne.

The elderly man was sitting in the driver’s seat of his ute which had stopped at the intersection of Station and Forster streets at Norlane around 2pm on Monday when he was bailed up by two men.

Police said one man opened the passenger side door and climbed into the vehicle, while the second opened the driver’s side door and pulled the 76-year-old out of the car.


After snatching the victim’s wallet, the two men drove off in his vehicle.

The 76-year-old man was not injured but was very shaken by the incident, police said.

His vehicle, a green 2007 Hilux tray with registration plate 1BX 4DK, has not been recovered.

Police said the man’s attackers were both wearing black hoodies. One offender was described as being about 175cm tall, skinny and aged in his 30s.

Geelong Crime Investigation Unit detectives are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the incident or may know the whereabouts of the stolen car to contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
