Elderly man charged after young boy approached at bus stop, told to ‘get in the car’

A man has been charged after a young boy was approached at a bus stop on the NSW north coast.

Police said that around 8.30am on Monday 5 December, a 12-year-old boy was waiting for a bus when a man in a vehicle asked him to get into the car.

The terrified young boy refused, however the man allegedly insisted before he was challenged by a another man nearby and left.

Following ongoing investigations, detectives yesterday arrested a 75-year-old man at Old Bar.

He was taken to Taree Police Station where he was charged with intimidate child with intent to cause harm.

The man is due to face Taree Local Court on 16 January 2017.
