A 90-year-old man has died after a boat capsized at Ballina, in northern NSW this morning.
Emergency services were called to Lighthouse Parade at East Ballina around 8.45am on Tuesday, following reports two people had fallen out of a boat which had capsized while crossing the Ballina Bar.
Police, along with paramedics, surf lifesavers and the Westpac helicopter immediately launched a rescue operation.

However, a short time later, police said a 17-year-old helped bring a 90-year-old man to shore.
A member of the public commenced CPR on the elderly man until paramedics arrived, but sadly, he could not be revived and died at the scene.
The teenage boy managed to escape uninjured.
A crime scene has since been established with investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident continuing.
A report will be prepared for the information of the Coroner.
