Elderly man dies in Hinterland crash
A man has died after his car hit a tree in the Gold Coast Hinterland.
Police say the 72-year-old was travelling south along Nerang-Murwillumbah Road in Numinbah Valley, around 4.30pm on Friday afternoon, when the accident happened.
The car crashed into a large tree and the man died at the scene.
He was the driver and sole occupant of the vehicle.
The incident forced the closure of the road for a number of hours.
Investigations by the Forensic Crash Unit are continuing.
