Elderly man stabbed in brutal attack at Sydney aged care facility

An elderly man has been stabbed by another elderly man in a violent attack at an aged care facility in Sydney’s south.

Police said the attack occurred just after 7.00pm on Sunday when a man entered one of the rooms at the facility on Fredrick Street, Rockdale, allegedly armed with a knife.

He is then alleged to have attacked a 72-year-old man, stabbing him in the neck, arms and hands before fleeing the scene.

The 72-year-old was treated at the scene before being taken to St George Hospital in a serious condition.

A crime scene was established at the aged care home and following ongoing investigations, police arrested a man, also aged 72.

He has been charged with wounding/grievous bodily harm with intent to murder and is due to appear in Sutherland Local Court today.
