Elderly man ‘unaccounted for’ following house fire

A MAN aged in his 90s is feared to have perished in a horror house fire in Sydney.

The elderly man remains unaccounted for after his home went up in flames on Leonard Ave in Kingsford.

Firefighters were called to the house just before 2am on Saturday and arrived to find the property well alight.

Despite their best efforts, however, crews were unable to save the home, which was completely destroyed.

Sadly, an elderly man who is believed to have lived at the home alone remains unaccounted for.

Emergency services have been unable to enter the home until it is deemed safe to do so.

It is not yet known what sparked the blaze.

Anyone with information that could assist police is urged to come forward.
