Elderly man’s limbs shredded by lawnmower in fight with 72-year-old neighbour
AN elderly man has been rushed to hospital with horrific hand and leg injuries after his limbs were shredded by a lawnmower during a fight with his 72-year-old neighbour on the NSW north coast.
Police said officers were called to reports of the elderly men fighting outside a house on Crestwood Drive at Port Macquarie around 9.30am on Saturday.
Emergency crews arrived to find an 81-year-old man with extensive injuries to his hands, legs and torso.
Police said the injuries to the man’s limbs were severe and appeared to be caused by a push mower.
They said a large knife was also allegedly used in the fight.

The 81-year-old was treated and stabilised by paramedics at the scene before being rushed to Port Macquarie Hospital.
His 72-year-old neighbour was taken to Port Macquarie Police Station where he remained on Saturday afternoon, assisting police with their inquiries.

The Crestwood Drive home was declared a crime scene and has been examined by forensic police.
Anyone with any information that could assist police with their investigation is urged to come forward.
