The search will continue today for a 72-year-old man who was swept away in floodwaters on the New South Wales far north coast.
The man’s vehicle was swept off a causeway after he tried to drive through floodwaters near Kyogle.

It rolled over in the water but he managed to get out and grab a sapling.
Witnesses say even though he couldn’t swim he took the advice of bystanders and tried to reach a larger tree, but was swept away.
SES Acting Commissioner Greg Newton said there was more than half a metre of water flowing over the causeway when he tried to drive through.
“We don’t want people driving into floodwaters,” he told the Nine network.
“It doesn’t take a lot for a vehicle to be swept off a causeway, I understand there was up to a couple of feet of water over the causeway.
“That’s more than enough to cause most vehicles to loose connection with the road and be swept away, ” he said.
The SES responded to 70 calls for help across the state overnight.
