Elderly woman killed after being struck by taxi in hit-and-run

AN elderly woman has died after being hit by a taxi on the Pacific Highway at Crows Nest this morning.

About 11.20am, emergency services were called to the Pacific Highway, near the intersection of Rocklands Road, following reports that a woman had been hit by a taxi.

Initial investigations suggest the woman, believed to be aged in her 80s, was attempting the cross the road, when she was struck by a taxi.

The woman was treated at by NSW Ambulance Paramedics, however died at the scene.

The driver of the taxi allegedly failed to stop following the crash.

A crime scene has been established and investigations are continuing.
