Acting Senior Sergeant Lawrie Catterson has told Sunrise there was little they could do to save her.
“A single female was located inside the dwelling by the fire fighters who forced entry through the front and the rear.
“The female was brought out to the front of the dwelling where paramedics performed CPR on her, but sadly she passed away at the scene,” Senior Sergeant Catterson said.
Investigations are now underway, with investigators looking into whether or not a lit cigarette may’ve caused the blaze.
