Elderly woman spat on during home invasion
An elderly woman has allegedly been set upon in her own home, in Brisbane’s east, by people she knows.
Police say, a man and women forced their way into the Murarrie home around 2.20pm on Saturday, claiming they were being chased.
The 81-year-old woman asked them to leave, but was allegedly pushed over by the female offender and then spat on.
A 50-year-old man who also lives at the Northcliffe Street property also asked the pair to leave.
It’s alleged he was punched by the man and further assaulted.
He suffered a possible broken arm and jaw and is recovering in the Princess Alexandra Hospital.
The couple then ran off but were found by police a short time later.
A 48-year-old man and a 47-year-old woman, both from Morningside, have been charged with one count each of enter with intent, grievous bodily harm, serious assault a person over 60 and robbery.
They will appear before the Brisbane Magistrates Court on Monday.
