Elderly woman thrown to the ground, seriously injured in brutal attack

An elderly woman has suffered a fractured nose and severe facial bruising after being horrifically attacked by a young woman who attempted to steal her handbag in Moorebank last week.

Police said that Mrs Lorrette Doueihi, 83, was walking along Nuwarra Road about 8am last Wednesday when she was approached by an unknown woman.

The young woman pushed Mrs Doueihi to the ground and attempted to steal her handbag, however was unsuccessful and ran from the scene.

Liverpool Local Area Command Crime Manager, Detective Chief Inspector Ken Hardie, described the attack as cowardly.

“This is a cowardly and disgraceful attack on a vulnerable elderly woman. It is a low act and we need assistance from the community to identify the person responsible,” he said.
