A teenager will face court after he allegedly assaulted and attempted to rob an elderly man with a knife south of Sydney.
It is alleged the 19-year-old put the 81-year-old in a head lock, held a knife to his throat and demanded money.

The elderly man attempted to fend off the attacker by using his shopping bags to hit the armed man in the head.
Nearby witnesses in a car beeped and shouted at the armed man, prompting him to flee the scene on foot.
The witnesses followed the armed man as he ran through Illawarra, however he allegedly turned on them, running towards the car and threatening the occupants.
The man, was taken to Lake Illawarra Police Station and charged with assault with intent to rob whilst armed with an offensive weapon.
Refused bail, he is scheduled to appear before Port Kembla Local Court on Monday.
The elderly man, while shocked, sustained only minor injuries as a result of the incident.
